Berry and Chia Smoothie

058

I could not resist this !!! What is better than a quick throw together morning smoothie.  I feel like I have just discovered my blender again, and can’t resist playing with it !!! I literally have been making smoothies and juices all week….I know….quite sad hey, but I like playing in my kitchen, and I like just sprucing the breakfast ideas up, otherwise it gets a tad boring. Not only that, I scrapped together the last of the strawberries here, so I had to take full advantage.

I was really on the fence about the banana thing…I am weird, I have this thing about bananas.  I like them, and then sometimes I don’t.  I love them in a fruit salad, banana bread and even in muffins, but then sometimes the thought of putting a banana into say a smoothie…….it doesn’t gross me out, it is just like…do I have to? should I?  Then, I do, and I love the smoothie….  Yes, just bare with me, I have my moments.

  1. I love fruit smoothies and often a banana is in them. I always have some frozen as I never seem to eat them all while they are fresh. I could make this now but I am out of chia seeds so thanks for the reminder as this is a perfect recipe to add them 🙂

  3. Smoothies are a good idea for people looking for quick easy nutrition in a drink. Surprisingly, I have never had a smoothie. They were not part of a typical nutrition plan for my generation and I never felt the need to add it. For today’s generation, I would encourage it to replace the horrible processed alternatives purchased.

Side Note: For people of my generation (nearly 58 years old) bourbon does NOT substitute for smoothies! 😀

  4. No problems with bananas over here, Lynne. Chia is a great addition. We’ve been making veggie/fruit (and sometimes sweet potatoes or quinoa) smoothies 3 evenings a week. The quinoa idea was from your blog!! The meal-plan change has translated to less meat, slow weight loss, and less cooking for me! Thanks for another new idea. 🙂

  5. What a refreshing and perfect smoothie to wake up to. I love bananas, but like you I don’t always put them in my smoothies. Great recipe!

(P.S. Your recipe title has a typo, it should be chia not chai. 😉 )
